This course will examine sex and sexual health through a medical anthropological lens. This course will ground students in terminology around categories of sex, gender, and sexuality, in addition to outlining human sexual anatomy and physiology. We will also explore issues surrounding reproductive health; the influence of sex on human cognitive functioning and behaviours; discuss how sex education impacts sexual health outcomes in relation to sexually transmitted diseases and infections; and analyze the effects of differential access to sexual health care supports and services.
